Mechanical Engineer – PMC / Supervision Consultant

Job Overview
A leading PMC / supervision consultancy is seeking an experienced Consultant Mechanical Engineer to join its team in Abu Dhabi, UAE for a new construction project.

The successful candidate will provide technical support during the construction phase, including design review, site supervision, inspection, contractor coordination, testing and commissioning, and quality compliance.

Immediate joining required.

Key Responsibilities
Provide technical support to the Resident Engineer and supervise mechanical works during the construction phase.
Review, monitor, inspect, and supervise contractor mechanical works for compliance with contract requirements.
Coordinate mechanical design with structural, architectural, electrical, and other disciplines.
Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors regarding installation accuracy, sequencing, and execution.
Review mechanical installation proposals, shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
Conduct periodic site inspections of HVAC and other mechanical systems.
Inspect AHUs, FCUs, chillers, heat exchangers, pumps, water tanks, calorifiers, extract fans, and pressurization systems.
Inspect ventilation ductwork, insulation, fire dampers, piping installations, and associated testing activities.
Witness pressure testing, flushing, chemical dosing, testing, and commissioning activities.
Coordinate final-fix mechanical elements such as grilles, diffusers, sprinklers, and fire hose reels with architectural requirements.
Monitor progress against the contractor’s approved program.
Conduct snagging and de-snagging inspections and prepare relevant reports.
Lead or participate in weekly MEP progress meetings and attend HSE and QA/QC meetings.
Review mechanical shop drawings for compliance with contract drawings, specifications, statutory requirements, and Civil Defence requirements.
Review CHW networks, chillers, heat exchangers, hot and cold-water systems, drainage, firefighting, CO monitoring, and HVAC distribution systems.
Review material submittals and method statements for compliance with project specifications.
Review contractor interim valuations where required.
Monitor site observation reports and NCRs and ensure appropriate follow-up.
Verify as-built drawings and O&M manuals prior to project completion and handover.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience.
At least 2 years of experience with a recognized PMC or supervision consultancy.
Strong experience in mechanical design review and construction supervision.
Proficiency in BIM software and relevant mechanical design applications.
Strong knowledge of UAE mechanical design standards, regulations, and local authority requirements.
Excellent communication, coordination, stakeholder management, and client-facing skills.
