Welding Design Engineer

Job Description
A reputed company in Saudi Arabia is seeking a highly skilled Welding Design Engineer with strong experience in welding engineering, fabrication, and structural projects within the oil & gas and construction industries. The ideal candidate should have solid expertise in welding procedures, quality compliance, and project coordination according to Saudi Aramco and international standards.

The Welding Design Engineer will manage welding operations, provide technical support to fabrication and site teams, and ensure all welding activities comply with approved procedures, quality requirements, and safety regulations. The role requires strong leadership, technical problem-solving abilities, and extensive knowledge of welding standards and inspection procedures.

Responsibilities
Develop, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
Ensure welding activities comply with ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, API standards, and project specifications
Provide technical support to fabrication and construction teams
Supervise and monitor welding activities at fabrication yards and project sites
Conduct Welder Performance Qualification Tests (WPQT)
Analyze welding defects and recommend corrective actions
Coordinate with QA/QC, NDT, and inspection teams for quality compliance
Review welding consumables, materials, and parameters for suitability
Estimate welding consumable quantities and support procurement activities
Monitor preheating, PWHT, and heat input control requirements
Participate in project meetings, audits, and client inspections including Saudi Aramco representatives
Prepare technical reports, welding summaries, and project documentation
Optimize welding productivity while maintaining quality and safety standards
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical/Welding Engineering
5–8 years of welding engineering experience
Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards
Experience in oil & gas and structural fabrication projects
Knowledge of Saudi Aramco standards preferred
Strong communication and technical reporting skills
Preferred Qualifications
CSWIP/CWI certification preferred
GCC experience in fabrication or oil & gas projects
Experience with structural works, piles, and conductors
