Safety Engineer
Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and proactive Safety Engineer to ensure the implementation of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across construction projects in Saudi Arabia. The role involves enforcing compliance with local regulations and international safety standards, minimizing risks, and promoting a strong safety culture on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and site safety plans.
- Ensure full compliance with Saudi health and safety laws, regulations, and authority requirements.
- Apply and maintain international safety standards such as OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to safety procedures and safe work practices.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare safety reports, documentation, and compliance records.
- Conduct safety inductions, training sessions, and toolbox talks for site personnel.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure safe execution of works.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and enforce safety compliance across all site operations.
- Support emergency preparedness and response planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant field from a recognized international university.
- Minimum 4–8 years of experience in construction safety, preferably in Saudi Arabia or GCC.
- Strong knowledge of Saudi HSE regulations and construction safety requirements.
- Certified in international safety standards such as OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001.
- NEBOSH (IGC/Construction) or equivalent safety certification is highly preferred.
- Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety audits.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to enforce safety standards in a multi-disciplinary construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership in recognized safety organizations.
- Experience in large-scale construction, infrastructure, or high-rise projects.
- Additional certifications in fire safety, first aid, or environmental management (ISO 14001).
